LIINKS is a Victoria BC born collaboration between vocalist/writer Georgia Murray and producer/DJ DWhiz. Prior to making it official and becoming LIINKS, the two had co-written a #1 hit song in South Korea (their song was actually stolen by Korea’s most popular artist at the time and reached #1 for 3 weeks until the scandal went public), received a nomination for ‘Urban Recording of the Year’ at the Western Canadian Music Awards, opened for Macy Gray, KRS One, Gramatik and Talib Kweli and Georgia Murray performed at California’s first WE DAY event alongside J.Cole and Big Sean. They were also chosen to be on CBC’s nationally televised show Cover Me Canada and were in the Top 20 of The Peak radio station’s Peak Performance Project in 2012. You could say their hybrid sound was gaining international attention long before the two put a stamp on it. Georgia Murray’s haunting vocals project a delicate image of soul music smattered with the eerie sensibility of classic trip-hop. Backed by cinematic beat-scapes created by DWhiz, the LIINKS sound is dark soul/electronic with an organic quality. Recently Georgia Murray and DWhiz co-wrote on internationally renowned dubstep producer Datsik’s Let It Burn album. The song ‘Hold It Down’ which features Georgia Murray on vocals currently has almost one million plays on Youtube. On April 15th Firepower Records (Datsik’s label) is releasing a Hold It Down EP with 3 remixes of the song, one of which is by the UK’s Doctor P, one of the biggest names in dubstep and co founder of Circus Records with Flux Pavillion. LIINKS first single ‘The Break’ came out on April 1st and has already been chosen by Bell Media to be featured on their radio stations across Canada. The Break debuted on Canadian AC Billboard charts at #39 and was the most added track to radio in Canada during the week of April 8. The Break is a vulnerable, revealing anthem with honest lyrics and a bangin’ beat. You can most certainly get down to this – the first taste of LIINKS with much more to come.
