Marta Pacek

After spending the past two years touring in support of her last studio album Rebel Baby, Australian (Canada connected) Alt Folk
songstress Marta Pacek is set to release her new album Voodoo Dolls and False Alarms. The album takes Marta in new directions. Producer Brad Albetta (Martha Wainwriight, Angus & Julia Stone, Glen Hansard) experimented with electronic drumbeats, giving birth to an even fiercer shade of truth that honours the noir folk songstress’s compositions.

The first single, “Nothing Going On” begins with a surprising hip hop beat before settling in for some 50’s rock ‘n’ roll. “Favourite Thing” veers into Alt Country, heartstrings are pulled with “Sometimes You Lose” and “Thar She Blows”, while “All I Need” gives a recognizable nod to Fleetwood Mac. The standout track “One Day” was written with noted songwriter Todd Clark (Pilot Speed, Phillip Phillips, Goo Goo Dolls) and an alternative version of the song concludes the album.

Marta began her career writing and recording with Mark Seymour, front man of iconic Australian group Hunters & Collectors and it’s clear his song crafting secrets were passed onto her. Since being lured by management to Toronto in 2008, Marta has had an amazing musical journey that has culminated with her third full length release, Voodoo Dolls and False Alarms.

She will be bringing her new music to fans across Australia, Europe, Canada and the U.S. throughout 2014 in Troubadoria, her live-in touring van.
