NEeMA is a storyteller, writer and singer. She released her second album Watching You Think in late 2010, a collection of twelve musical stories that seamlessly meld elements of world music, folk and spoken word with a good measure of pop. It also contains her highly acclaimed prayer song Masi, meaning thank you. Produced in association with Leonard Cohen and Pierre Marchand (Sarah McLachlan, Rufus Wainwright), Watching You Think contains songs of love, life and simple observations that read like parables and sound instantly familiar. She spent 2010 and 2011 touring with her band. After launch shows in Montreal, New York and Los Angeles as well as appearances at Folk Alliance in Memphis and Austin’s South by South-West, she toured as a support act for renowned folk artist Jesse Winchester through the USA. The trajectory remained skyward and in the summer of 2011 NEeMA headed out on an extended tour of Europe that would see her and the band play twenty-two shows across thirteen countries. As well as several headline performances, NEeMA had the honor of opening shows for the legendary Joe Cocker and guitar hero/virtuoso Jeff Beck. The tour culminated with performances in Provence, France opening for and singing with Cindy Lauper; and in Lucca, Italy opening for the singular Sir Elton John. She has now completed a live album entitled Leave the Light On, which will be released on April 8th 2014. It includes songs from Montreal (Canada), as well as Malmo (Sweden), Gent (Belgium), London (England), Dublin (Ireland), Oslo (Norway) and Lucca (Italy). She is also working on a new studio album to be completed later in 2014.
