0 to 100/The Catch Up - Single

You can always count on Drake to create some online buzz with every announcement. Earlier this week, he unveiled yet another single, “0 to 100/The Catch Up”, on Soundcloud for a free download, just a couple months after releasing two other free tracks. Within three days, the Noah “40” Shebib-produced track passed 3 million streams. While he’s usually boastful, his claim on the new tune, “If I ain’t the greatest, I’m headed for it”, suggests either extreme ambition or one hell of an ego. There might be some legitimacy to it though, at least in terms of current popularity –in 2013, Billboard ranked him third on the year-end Top R&B/Hip-Hop Artists chart, and he still holds the record for most hip-hop No. 1s ever.

“The Catch Up” portion of the track, featuring a sample from James Blake, is essentially a single in place of a press release. He hints at a new solo 2015 record, as well as new records from acts on his OVO label, including OB O'Brien, PartyNextDoor, and Majid Jordan (all of which will likely have an appearance from Aubrey Graham himself). Drake’s world might keep getting bigger.
