A Wanderer I'll Stay

A Wanderer I'll Stay is the third album from award-winning duo Pharis and Jason Romero. Their brand of old-time folk/roots has found a welcoming audience, one boosted by stints on A Prairie Home Companion and a just-completed CBC's Vinyl Cafe tour. Strong original tunes nestle comfortably alongside old public domain tunes they've sourced. Their vocal harmonies are quite lovely, and the pair shine with their guitar and banjo playing too. Guests on fiddle, pedal steel, bass and drums flesh out some tunes, while the much-heralded David Travers-Smith co-produced, recorded and mixed the album. No surprise that Jason's playing shines, for he has a thriving business making banjos and resophonic guitars for such stars as Ricky Skaggs and Jerry Douglas. An album we expect to be noticed come folk awards time.

The Romeros have an album release tour in BC and AB (March 13-21), followed by April gigs in Washington and Oregon. Check their site for details.
