Amani

Saukrates has long been one of the most-respected artists on the Tdot hiphop scene (his first single, "Hate Runs Deep," was released 20 years ago). His 1999 album The Underground Tapes is recognised as one of Canada's best ever hiphop records, and he has collaborated with the likes of Drake and Nas and produced K-os, Swollen Members, Rascalz, Kardinal Offishal, Choclair, Shad and more. His production skills shine on his new EP Amani (his first name), alongside his rhyming talents. Rich Kidd helps out, and SonReal adds a vocal to highlight cut "#FYEO". Sheldon gets a namecheck on "The Big Bang", though some lyrics here would make him blush! Saukrates is a keynote interviewee at The Canadian Urban Music Conference in Toronto on Oct. 11, and performs at The Young and Poppin' Music Showcase and Awards later that night.
