A real bonus for artists who put out Christmas albums is that they can be relaunched at this time every year. At least much-loved roots rock veterans Skydiggers have sweetened the pot by more than doubling the number of tracks on Angels, the holiday-themed EP they put out last year. Back then, NCM praised the disc, calling Andy Maize's voice "a warm winter hug". The new cuts are strong, making this a charming disc that'll fit perfectly in a Xmas stocking next to the seasonal offering from their good pals in Blue Rodeo. In the spirit of giving, some of the album sales proceeds will go to the Unison Benevolent Fund.
Skydiggers will doubtless feature some of these songs when they play Winnipeg on Dec. 5 and Calgary Dec. 6. Following Ontario dates include two at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern, on Dec. 19 and 20 (now an annual tradition). Check their site for a full itinerary.
