Banks - Single
Vancouver-based indie pop duo Rococode made waves in 2012 with the spritely debut Guns, Sex & Glory, and, with the exception of a killer single released early last year, no new material has been heard since (all of their effort was put into an exhausting touring schedule). To rectify this, they hunkered down in a remote cabin in the B.C. forest with producers Caleb Shreve (Phantogram, Bear Hands) and Ted Gowans (Tegan and Sara) to hash out some new tunes. Haunting single “Banks” is the first from these sessions to be unearthed, and it’s a striking departure - uncharacteristically introspective and built around chilly synth textures. Thankfully, it works well for them, giving Laura Smith and Andrew Braun’s melodious vocals a new sense of depth.
