Noise-pop combo Shimmering Stars turned ears with their superb 2011 debut album, Violent Hearts, and are now earning kudos for new disc Bedrooms of the Nation. Deservedly so, for they again convince with their reverb-heavy sound that manages to be both melodic and noisy. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the group self-produced the album in their own Garage Mahal studio, then recruited Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, The New Pornographers) to mix. The band has earned a European following, and the album will be released on Almost Musique there. Jesus and Mary Chain fans should certainly explore this.
