Sean Nicholas Savage is certainly no slacker. Bermuda Waterfall is his eleventh album in six years, and it maintains the high standard of last year's Other Life. His rather fragile plaintive vocal style and confessional lyrics tug effectively at the heartstrings, while there's a warmth to his soft rock meets synth-pop sound that is definitely bolstered by his use of vintage synths and keyboards. Vampires and zombies make appearances in songs here, but the sonic results aren't scary. Debut single "Naturally" is a winner, but there are no duds here. Pitchfork just gave this a 7.0, and we'd have scored it higher. Savage has earned a European audience, and he's currently in the middle of a 16-date tour there.
