Body - Single

Montreal-based synthpop adventurers Young Galaxy garnered significant attention with their third LP Shapeshifting in 2011 (a well-deserved Polaris longlist nom) and outdid themselves with the 2013 follow-up Ultramarine (which made the shortlist cut). The upcoming Falsework promises to be the continuation of these efforts, and hopefully one that can finally secure an award win. Once again, the disc was produced by Dan Lissvik (Studio, Taken By Trees, The Embassy) and much of the recording process took place in Gothenburg, Sweden over the winter of 2014/2015. “Body” is the glimmering early cut from the album and suggests the band’s dreamy electro-pop songwriting craft has only improved. Centered around Catherine McCandless’s ethereal, floating vocal delivery are a sea of synths, and a futuristic groove, making the track’s six-minute running time engaging from top to bottom. Also included in the digital package is the dance-worthy Peaking Lights Disco Dub remix.

Falsework is due October 30 through Paper Bag Records. Pre-order a “surprise” coloured LP here
