Boo Hoo Hoo

Just a few weeks ago in this space, we raved about See The Sky About To Rain, the rootsy debut album from singer/songwriter/actor Colleen Rennison. Now we get to offer praise for Boo Hoo Hoo, the new album from the band she fronts, No Sinner. Many of its tracks first surfaced here on a 2012 EP of the same name, but an expanded version of the disc has just been released internationally on noted label Provogue, so it is being issued here too. Rennison's work here is definitely on the rockier side, more Janis Joplin than Joni Mitchell. No Sinner have already begun to make waves in Europe with their fiery blues-rock sound, and have just toured the UK, France, Holland and Germany. The raunchy video for the gutsy title track has racked up 165k views, while "September Moon" shows she can kill on a ballad too. Expect cheers not tears over this one. This is a band making moves fast.
No Sinner have a Western tour lined up for July. Check the band's website for details.
