Brothers in the Garage - Single

We were quite impressed with Graydon James & The Young Novelists’ 2012 debut disc In The Year You Were Born, an appropriately scholarly effort that helped them snag a Galaxie Rising Star Award. Thankfully the band will have another go at it with an announced sophomore follow-up, Made Us Strangers, due April 28. Since James’ wife Laura Spink became an integral part of the songwriting process, and with many shows being performed as a duo, the band has officially shortened their name to The Young Novelists. With the change of name also came a new stylistic direction for the record, more aligned with their live shows. "We were looking to inject a bit of excitement and edginess into it this time around," James explained in a press release. “But we also wanted the recordings to be more organic and true." We definitely see this in effect on early single “Brothers in the Garage”, a rootsy, harmony-laden rocker that will draw even more favourable comparisons to Blue Rodeo.

Count on the band’s live shows to be of an equal caliber. Plenty of dates are scheduled through the spring – check the Young Novelists’ website for details.
