Come Into Gone
The debut album by Daniel Isaiah, High Twilight, earned blogosphere love here and in the U.S.. The eloquent singer/songwriter now ups the ante with Come Into Gone, a record that incorporates indie rock and folk stylings. Out on top indie label Secret City (Patrick Watson, The Barr Brothers, Basia Bulat), it was recorded over two three-day sessions with a full band that included Matthew Woodley of Plants and Animals (Isaiah and Martin Horn co-produce). Synths and female backing vocals help flesh out the sound, and Isaiah has a pleasantly mellow vocal style. The catchy groove to first single "Heaven Is On Fire" makes it very radio-friendly, while other tunes have subtle touches that are gradually and gently seductive.
Isaiah plays The Monarch in Toronto on April 24.
