When post-hardcore heroes Alexisonfire broke up, all the band’s members went in their separate directions; Wade MacNeil took over vocal duties for U.K. punk act Gallows (and hosts a radio show on The Edge in Toronto), drummer Jordan Hastings formed rock trio Say Yes, and Dallas Green continued writing material under his ever-popular City & Colour project. Now vocalist/lead-screamer George Pettit has formed his own heavy project, Dead Tired. The Hamilton ON-based band, rounded out with former members of Protest the Hero, Dead Beat, and Black Lungs, have just released a self-titled debut disc through New Damage Records. Written over the span of only a few months, the five-piece quickly recorded the twelve seething tracks at Box Car Sound studios with engineer Sean Pierson. Visceral and unrelenting – if you’re the type to avoid the mosh pit, you should probably steer clear. Guest stars on the disc include TV Freaks’ Dave O’ Connor and Martin Farkas of Career Suicide.
Live dates include Toronto on March 20 at Hard Luck Bar and May 8 at Lee’s Palace, May 9 in Ottawa at Ritual, and August 7 in Montreal for Heavy Montreal.
In related news, Alexisonfire have announced a string of reunion dates for later this summer. Head to theonlybandever.com for full details.
