Downtown - Single
It seems that getting on the cover of Rolling Stone holds as much weight in the new millennium as it did to Dr. Hook and Shel Silverstein back in ’72. Case in point – Saskatoon boogie rockers The Sheepdogs, who won the mag’s “Choose the Cover” competition back in 2011 and have become a rock radio staple ever since (it should also be noted that Rush got their first RS cover just last month, perhaps 40 years too late). The ‘Dogs though, have been let out again, announcing a highly anticipated full-length follow-up to 2012’s Juno winning self-titled record; Future Nostalgia which is due October 2 though Warner Music Canada. Weighing in at a whopping 18 tracks (and 22 for the deluxe edition), the new album promises to be packed with nostalgia-tinged guitar-rocking cuts and sing-along hooks. New single “Downtown” is in line with everything we’ve come to expect from this band, and finds them in a decidedly chill groove. We anticipate it doing well on rock radio charts.
The Sheepdogs played the Calgary Stampede earlier this week and will likely play some of these new tunes at Rock the Shores in Colwood BC on July 18 and the WayHome Music Festival in Oro-Medonte on July 26. Even more dates are scheduled through the summer and fall - head to the band’s website for full details.
