T.O. roots troubadour Jerry Leger just can't stop putting out records. That's a good thing, as Early Riser, his seventh album in nine years, confirms that being prolific doesn't have to mean a decline in quantity. Long admired by his peers, he recruits Cowboy Junkies mainman Michael Timmins to produce this time out, with impressive results. The use of female backing vocalists and horns further fleshes out the tight sound he has developed with constant sidemen The Situation, while his country-folk writing chops remain well-honed. Leger tours eastern Canada extensively over the next six weeks. For dates, go here.
