Four Pink Walls
Leave it to hitmaker Sia to become a trailblazer, leading the way for other reluctant pop stars. Enter: Alessia Cara, the 19-year old Brampton ON raised singer who gained a little bit of attention for posting covers to YouTube and later, for penning an impeccable runaway hit, centered on being a wallflower at a party, that would get its’ TV debut on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Four Pink Walls is her first major release, offered through Def Jam, and a confirmation that stardom is within her reach. “Here” was no fluke – all the tracks within are powerhouse R&B-inflected pop jams, hook-driven without being cloying or saccharine, and inspired teenage confessionals that lean closer to My So-Called Life than to The Hills (or whatever MTV is currently peddling). Keep an eye on this artist before she reaches the high end of the chart stratosphere.
