The powerhouse pairing of Hip mainman Gord Downie and roots-rock heroes The Sadies first caught our attention with debut single "Crater". NCM's Noah Siegel noted that "Downie’s swagger matched with The Sadies’ first-class musicianship". We're pleased to report that the rest of their debut album is equally strong. The Sadies musical muscle keeps Downie from getting too cerebral, and he sounds decidedly energized here. You can bet the punk-inflected riff-heavy sound will shine live. They play Peterborough on April 29, followed by U.S. dates, an appearance at Arts & Crafts Field Trip Festival in Toronto (June 7 & 8) and Western Canadian shows.
