Folk and soft pop elements coalesce nicely on In Between Goodbyes, the second album from Alberta singer/songwriter (and yogini!) Amy Thiessen. She has a clear and melodic voice, and her songs trace the vagaries of love with real skill. A key collaborator on the record was Russell Broom (Jann Arden), who produced, mixed and played guitar and bass. Reference points for Thiessen's sound would include Arden and Dido. She launched the disc last week at Calgary's Festival Hall. Check out her website for more Western dates in the summer.
