It'll Be Alright
The East Coast seems to produce a never-ending supply of high-quality roots-accented female singer/songwriters. Christina Martin has long featured on that list, and she again excels on her new (and fifth) album, It'll Be Alright. Her previous record, 2012's Sleeping With A Stranger, was very well-received, and helped Martin win an ECMA and Nova Scotia's Female Recording Artist of the Year Award. The title track first single is a mite evocative of Rosanne Cash, and it features fine guitar by hubby Dale Murray (Cuff The Duke). Martin digs deep lyrically, and the production values here (Martin and Murray co-produced) are high.
Martin played shows in Moncton and Halifax last week, just prior to heading to Europe for an extensive duo tour. Let's hope for more Canadian dates after that.
