Western Canada's best roots rock band, the Deep Dark Woods, is now making an international impact. This will surely increase with the superb new recording Jubilee that adds a layer of psychedelia to the band's already engagingly rustic sound. The choice of American wunderkind producer Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty) is a smart one. Wilson and band recorded Jubilee mostly live off-the-floor in a cabin in Alberta. Keyboards and vintage synths plus thick guitar and full vocal harrmonies add depth to the rich voice and poetic songwriting of Ryan Boldt, while comrades Chris Mason and new guy Clayton Linthicum also contribute potently to the songwriting. The band is now on an extensive North American tour.
