Mad Lad Plan

Pulling off the fake band routine is not easy, but Toronto's The Cocksure Lads do that quite brilliantly on Mad Lad Plan. No surprise to learn that Murray Foster and Mike Ford, two members of witty '90s faves Moxy Fruvous, are behind this project, a well-executed impersonation of a young 'mid-60s Anglo band. The pair have a genuine love for this era, writing Merseybeat style songs together for two decades, and releasing some of them on 2010's The Greatest Hits of The Cocksure Lads, 1963-1968. They're ably abetted on disc and live by Tim Bovaconti (Ron Sexsmith) and Blake Manning (The Heartbroken). A Kickstarter-funded feature film, You Gotta Stay Cocksure, (written and directed by Foster) is also in the works. Check out the trailer here. The disc was launched at Revival in Toronto last week.
