The advance hype in the US and UK has been enthusiastic for this Toronto trio’s Sub Pop debut. With song titles such as “Rats”, “Negative Space” and “Sad Pricks” you just know this isn’t pretty pop. Jet-fueled bombast is what it is, melding together noise rock, post punk, hardcore, no wave and Jesus Lizard. That, in a nutshell, is what a few of the reviewers are saying. Adding spittle to the proceedings are Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck) and Alexandre Bonenfant (White Girl Records) who rev ten hardcore songs to blitzkrieg perfection.
Canada's latest power-rock trio raises the roof at the Koolhaus in Toronto this Saturday the 13th, genuflecting Sunday in Montreal's Club Soda and then it's off to deafen populations in the US and the UK.
