Acclaimed and prolific transgender singer/songwriter Rae Spoon is renowned for never making the same album twice, a pattern continued by My Prairie Home, Spoon's eighth solo release. 2012's I Can’t Keep All Of Our Secrets was electronica-based, but the new album also incorporates roots music styles, to great effect. Clear, expressive and haunting vocals complement the typically introspective and revealing lyrics, a combination that has brought Spoon international recognition. Inventive instrumental arrangements and crisp production (by Spoon and Lorrie Matheson) round out a superb package. The record also serves as the score and soundtrack to the upcoming National Film Board documentary of the same name. Dates for a fall Canadian tour can be found here.
