Not Self-Titled EP

Newcomer producer Robert Robert has little use for genre distinctions on his latest (and cleverly titled) EP, Not Self-Titled. The solo artist, born Arthur Gaumont Marchand, was raised in Montreal on a steady diet of classic R&B, hip-hop, and rock, all of which clearly made an impact. Over five glossy tracks, he effectively incorporates and mashes elements of electro, jazz, and trap into a palatable and unpredictable package, as if this fusion always deserved to exist together. Collaborators are aplenty – ZeFire spits rhymes on “Lonely Road”, Echo 6 lends a hand on “Fracture Zone” and Rollie and Felix Noe join in on opener “Deadline”.

Robert Robert will play in his hometown of Montreal on June 5 at Gallery 203, June 6 at Bluedog, June 19 at Bain Mathieu, and July 24 at Le Belemont. Details on his Facebook
