Ready in Time
Hard-working and productive folk-rock troubadour Matt Epp has earned an audience in Europe as well as Canada for his melodic work. He has scored peer respect too, as shown by Serena Ryder's guesting on "When You Know", a single from 2013's praised album Learning To Lose Control. Last year he released an EP, Luma, noting it marked "the beginning of a new era". That era continues on his new (eighth) album, Ready In Time. It sustains the high quality of Epp's work, and it benefits from strong production by Rusty Matyas (Imaginary Cities, The Sheepdogs). The title track is a mid-tempo tune featuring chiming guitar, swirling keyboards and a catchy chorus, and it is one we hope to hear all over the radio soon.
Epp played a hometown CD release party in Winnipeg earlier this week. He has gigs at The Black Sheep in Wakefield on June 28, Toronto's Cameron House on July 2, and the Skylight Festival in Paris, ON, on July 31.
