River of Sand
Country-folk singer/songwriter Lynne Hanson made a splash with her first three albums, Things I Miss, Eleven Months, and Once The Sun Goes Down, earning a nomination for a Canadian Folk Music Award in 2009 and the coveted Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award in 2010. She has also toured in the U.S. and Europe, and now makes a welcome return after a long hiatus. River of Sand was produced by another eloquent songstress, Lynn Miles, and it features such notable players/singers as Rebecca Campbell, Anders Drerup, Keith Glass (Prairie Oyster) and Lyndell Montgomery. Here, Hanson digs deep lyrically, reflecting on her fight for sobriety. The album is already charting high at Roots Music Report. Fans of Gillian Welch and Lucinda Williams should definitely investigate.
Hanson tours the U.K. and Holland, Sept. 25- Oct. 11, then plays extensively in Ontario, with dates including Toronto's Dakota Tavern on Nov. 7 and Ottawa's N.A.C. on Nov. 14.
