They've flown under the mainstream radar here, but femme rock trio Miss Quincy and the Showdown have been racking up serious road miles (250 gigs in seven countries in the past two years). Roadside Recovery is their third album, and it features high-octane rock 'n roll, infused with blues and soul. Miss Quincy (aka Jody Peck) has a powerhouse voice, and her songs boast great titles like "Rush Hour Traffic With A Hangover" and "Wild Fucking West". Producer Matt Rogers (The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer) captures the grit nicely. They've just started an extensive Western tour, with summer dates booked in Toronto and Montreal. Let's hope they don't need to call roadside recovery.
