There is no Scarlett or Jane in this folk/country duo. Instead there are two talented singer/songwriters, Andrea Ramolo and Cindy Doire, each of whom released multiple worthy solo albums before joining forces. Their first album together, 2012's Stranger was later re-released, and SJ toured it in Europe and Canada. It also earned Scarlett Jane two Canadian Folk Music Award nominations for Best Emerging Artist and Best Vocal Group. Their new second album is self-titled, and it again features some sparkling vocal harmonies and a nice range of tempos and moods. It has a rich sound, with co-producers Colin Cripps (Blue Rodeo) and Chris Stringer doing fine work.
The album was launched at Toronto's Dakota Tavern last week. Some major summer festivals will be played, including the Vancouver and Calgary Folk Festivals. Check their site for details.
