Scratch - Single
Word of mouth’s been brewing for sludge-punk Toronto quartet Hsy (pronounced “Hussy”) and should reach a boiling point with the release of a debut full-length, Bask, on September 11. Their 2013 self-titled EP made fans of Pitchfork, Stereogum, and Spin, and this new release, suggested to be occasionally melodic while drenched in distortion, grime, and filth, should continue to draw in new ears. Early fuzzy cut “Scratch”, replete with wails and barks and packaged in a tidy 2min14sec running time should appeal to fans of the Melvins. It’s noisy as shit and unrelenting - exactly as they and producer Josh Korody (Wish, Beliefs) intended.
Hsy will play hometown Toronto shows at Lee’s Palace on September 7 (with Old Man Gloom & Mare) and at the Garrison on September 17 (with the Nihilist Spasm Band). Details over on Buzz Records.
