The sound of Hamilton rock 'n rollers Pet Sun is a refreshing mix of psychedelia, shoegaze and fuzz-driven stoner rock, as can be heard on dynamic opening cut "Dark Planet". "The song tells less of a story than it does paint a chaotic picture of our minds when we wrote it," singer/guitarist Stephane Senecal-Tremblay has explained, and this is quite glorious chaos. It is one of three cuts on their new EP (out on 7-inch vinyl) Shade Driver, one that's already making waves in Europe. Earlier EPs Serpent Buzz and last year's Feel Like I'm Going Away had more of a garage rock feel, but are equally exciting. Alan Cross and Strombo have been early adopters, and we're fans now too. Play this loud.
Pet Sun played Toronto's Hard Luck earlier this week and are at Hamilton's Exhale Bonfire at Dec. 11.
