She Knows Me/Any Time At All - Single
Bryan Adams, possibly one of our most celebrated living songwriters, built a career based on songs steeped in nostalgia. Even the hits that weren’t based around lost summers seemed to hearken back to earlier rock classics. He’ll continue to mine the past with an upcoming covers record, Tracks of My Years, due September 30 through Universal Music Canada. Intended to be a love letter to his favourite tunes of the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s, he enlisted the help of A-list producers David Foster and Bob Rock to enact his vision. But it wasn’t easy to narrow down the tracklisting.
“Making the selection of the songs for the album took a long time,” noted Adams in a press release. ”We recorded all kinds of songs until the songs sort of presented themselves, or sounded different enough from the originals. We did about three months of recording, spread out over the course of two years”.
The first revealed cover is the Beatles’ “Any Time at All”, originally off A Hard Day’s Night. Turned into a power-chord rocker, it becomes a natural fit for Adams. Also available now is the album’s sole original track, “She Knows Me”, co-written with longtime writing partner Jim Vallance. While the latter will likely be the one to land at radio, it’s hard to top anything from the Lennon-McCartney songbook!
