Somewhere, A While Ago
Niagara-On-The-Lake is known as a pretty tourist town, not a hub of punk rock, but it has produced a fine exponent of the latter in Heavy Hearts. They have an emo-tinged style, one the band tems "Sadcore". Singer Justin Glatt notes that their second EP, Somewhere, A While Ago, explores "the feeling of stagnancy that stems from us living in a small town". It was recorded in Caledon with co-producer/engineer/mixer Sam Guaiana. A free download of the searing cut "Garden Arm" is available here.
Heavy Hearts play Toronto's Smiling Buddha (Feb. 5), Detour Music Hall in St. Catharines (Feb 20), Van Gogh's Ear in Guelph (Feb. 21), Club Absinthe in Hamilton (Feb. 22) and The TRH in Montreal (March 6).
