There is serious talent in the gene pool of Toronto troubadour Sam Cash. Son of Andrew and nephew of Peter (Skydiggers), he turned ears with his 2011 debut, Teenage Hunger. Only recently out of his teens, the rootsy singer/songwriter lives up to his promise with this strong effort, recorded in a few days at the rustic Gas Station, with Dale Morningstar and Romantic Dogs guitarist Matt Bailey sharing engineering duties. Cash has an appealing and vigorous vocal style, and his songs affix his honest reflections to strong melodies. A real contender. He launches the disc at The Cameron House in T.O. on Sept. 14.
