Stripes - EP
Vancouver hard rock quintet Pigeon Park are clearly fans of the EP format. They impressed with their eponymous 2012 debut EP, followed by the similarly formatted Black Widow (2013), and they now make it a troika with the six-song Stripes. The production of hard rock maestro GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Hedley) is typically first-rate, resulting in the kind of full and muscular sound and big choruses that'll appeal to Nickelback fans. New single "Break Me" is an ace example of this. A couple of singles from Black Widow were rock radio hits, and we expect more from this collection. If you sign up for their mailing list, you'll get a free MP3 dl of "Black Widow'.
Upcoming shows include the Rocking the Fields festival in Minnedosa on Aug. 1 and the CNE in Toronto (with Foghat) on Aug. 28.
