In the mood for classic retro-sounding melodic pop/rock with psychedelic tinges, a la the Beatles, Big Star, or The Byrds? Then The Shilohs are just the band for you. They made a noise with their debut disc, 2013's So Wild, and earned a U.S. fan base, as shown by Spin premiering the new "Palm Readers" single, a sweet slab of jangle-pop. That buzz will heighten with this brilliant self-titled second album, one produced by the noted team of John Collins and Dave Carswell (Destroyer, the New Pornographers). Having industry heavyweight Jonathan Simkin in their camp as manager certainly won't harm their prospects either. One to watch closely.
