There seems to be an inexhaustible supply of young roots-rockers coming out of Western Canada these days. We're not complaining, especially when they're as good as Regina's The Slim City Pickers. This self-titled debut album features strong vocal harmonies and fluent steel playing, as evidenced on a standout track, "No Good Woman". Influences range from The Allman Brothers to the Bakersfield sound, and the band does them proud. Singer Orin Paquette also produced the album.
