It makes sense that Matthew Johnston would get so emotional on his debut solo offering There Will Be Miracles; during the process of the writing and recording of the new EP, he found out he was going to be a father. Through six glossy, star-gazing pop tunes (including the early hook-laden early single "Explosions In The Sky"), he explores deeply personal themes of love and gratitude. The years he’s spent behind the drum kit and as producer for Shad have certainly paid off, the self-production translating as highly palatable and radio friendly.
Two days before the album’s official launch, Matthew and wife Jennifer welcomed two twin boys, nine weeks premature. Perhaps we can expect a post-natal album follow-up?
