Toronto folk-rock troubadour Barzin has long enjoyed the support of peers and critics over a decade-plus career. It's nearly five years since previous album Notes to an Absent Lover, and there's already a buzz around To Live Alone In That Long Summer, his fourth album (rollingstone.com are streaming it). Noted collaborators here include Tony Dekker (Great Lake Swimmers), Daniela Gesundheit (Snowblink), and Sandro Perri, and GLS is a good comparison point for Barzin's moody and atmospheric sound, one with more of a long winter feel. It is embellished here by woodwinds, arranged by Karen Graves (Hayden). He has Montreal and Ontario dates set for March, supporting this career-best offering.
