The Acorn is the brainchild of eloquent singer/songwriter Rolf Klausener. After a long absence, he returned to the fray a couple of months ago with the lovely single "Influence", and new record Vieux Loup maintains that track's high standard. The album is full of subtle sonic touches, and the blend of electro and acoustic textures is a seamless one. The title track and "Cumin" are gently mesmerising, and remind us a little of Great Lake Swimmers. The Acorn has earned strong support from critics here (earlier concept album Glory Hope Mountain was a Polaris nominee) and abroad, and Vieux Loup is sure to consolidate that.
Let's hope for live shows soon.
