Waiting Room Baby
Something of a buzz has been building around alt-rockers Sc Mira, based on festival appearances, a support slot on a Buck 65 tour, and the single "On My Own". This will grow with the release of a very impressive debut EP, Waiting Room Baby. Their sound is built around the intensely personal songs and expressive vocals of Sadye Cage (her voice reminds us of Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries). Originally recorded in an old bank vault in downtown Winnipeg, the album was then spruced up by Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire, Basia Bulat) in Montreal. Buck 65 guests on one track here, "Motel Honey".
SC Mira play a June 11 release party at West End Cultural Centre in Winnipeg. This is followed by gigs at NXNE in Toronto (June 20 The Rivoli) and subsequent U.S. dates. Check their website for the full itinerary.
