Warriors - Single

There are likely quite a few music writers pleased to note that Saidah Baba Talibah has now changed her stage name to the much easier to spell SATE. This scribe has long been a fan of her ferocious talent as a powerhouse singer able to fuse soul, blues and hard rock with ease. A charismatic performer, she has always attracted ace players to her band (including Donna Grantis, now with Prince). Her 2011 debut album (S)cream earned raves, and she has dazzled at festivals in Europe and the U.S.. SATE has successfully crowd-funded a new album, and a fiery debut (as SATE) single "Warrior” was released recently, followed this week by a brand new track, "What Did I Do”. The album will comprise material from the three EPs, RED, BLACK and BLUE, she and producer Tom McKay have been working on for the past two years. Those EPs are exclusive to the crowd funders. Interesting note: Talibah is the daughter of the legendary blues singer Salome Bey.

SATE will perform at Harbourfront in Toronto on July 11. She previously won the Harbourfront-backed Soundclash Music award.
