Weaves - EP

They've already played CMJ and earned raves in the US blogosphere (Spin and Brooklynvegan love them), and Toronto's Weaves will build on that momentum with this new eponymous debut, following earlier strong singles. Their sound juxtaposes Jasmyn Burke's beefy vocals with off-kilter riffs and rhythms, to entrancing effect. Back in February, NCM's Noah Siegel praised the "dizzying guitar licks and art-punk unhinged vocals" of the track "Take A Dip", and we love the weirdly catchy "Hulahoop". Fitting that this comes out on Buzz Records. Weaves play NYC again soon, followed by a hometown gig at Cinecycle on April 26.
