Can you judge a young artist by the company they keep? In the case of Whitney Rose, definitely. She attracted the high-powered likes of David Baxter and Blue Rodeo's Bazil Donovan to co-produce her debut, and guests include Devin Cuddy, Justin Rutledge, John Borra, Wayne Petti (Cuff The Duke) and Bob Egan (Blue Rodeo). Rose has a strong voice with a retro feel, a la Patsy Cline, and she proves herself a promising songwriter too. Highlights include "Chivalry Is Dead" and a cover of Borra's "In The Afternoon." Not since Lori Yates has the Queen West scene produced such an authentic country voice.
