Zombie Garden Club

Zombie Garden Club is the brainchild of former Toronto rock 'n roller Johnny Douglas, a founding member of popular '90s folk-pop combo Hemingway Corner. Long based in Nashville, he has had songs covered by the likes of Gregg Allman and Jeff Healey and has placed songs in such series as Shameless and Beverly Hills 90210. With ZGC, he turns his considerable talent to garage rock, with stellar results (he has already scored airplay on Little Steven's Underground Garage show). Their self-titled debut has a righteously retro sound that draws comparisons to the likes of The Yardbirds, The Seeds, and the Standells, with the big dirty twang of the guitar playing being a real treat. Let's hope the current fascination with all things zombie helps bring attention to ZGC.

ZGC play The Thoroughbred Music and Arts Festival in Aiken, SC on June 27. Douglas tells us he's aiming to head north across the border for gigs. We sure hope so!
