Video of the moment

Every week we select a music video by a Canadian group or artist who have recently been reviewed by our editorial team. If you'd like to suggest a video for consideration, you can send us a message using this form.

Piano-playing singer Devin Cuddy has paid his dues on the Toronto circuit, and expanded his following by touring with Blue Rodeo. Yes, he's the son of Jim, but his sound actually owes more to the jazz and r 'n b sounds of the South than the rootsy Canadiana of his dad's band. He notched a JUNO nomination for his first record, Vol. 1, and now The Devin Cuddy Band is getting ready to release a sophomore effort. Produced by Greg Keelor, Kitchen Knife will come out on Cameron House Records on July 29, preceded by a new single ("Forty Four") and a just-released video for the title cut (get it?). The clip is a charming one, featuring the band playing live in front of a group of very cute and very attentive young students at Toronto's Regent Park School of Music. Bet your music class didn't have anything this cool going on!

The band have a busy July lined up, with two appearances at Toronto's TURF Festival being followed by other Ontario dates (with Alan Doyle) then a western tour.
