Video of the moment

Every week we select a music video by a Canadian group or artist who have recently been reviewed by our editorial team. If you'd like to suggest a video for consideration, you can send us a message using this form.

"Mountain Man" is the first single from Direction 1: Major Love, the new EP from totally charming Edmonton-based songstress Colleen Brown. It's an upbeat and boisterous tune that showcases Brown's powerful voice, and it is perfectly complemented by one of the funniest and quirkiest videos we've seen in a while. The clip explores the travails faced by Brown as she navigates the pitfalls of modern-day dating. After auditioning a Bay Street suit, gamer, pingpong player and bug collector, she finally gets off on the right (Big) foot. The campfire set-up in the canyons of downtown Toronto is quite hilarious. The singer's status as an undervalued talent will hopefully change in 2014, and an upcoming full-length featuring tracks produced by Joel Plaskett will help this cause.
