Video of the moment
Every week we select a music video by a Canadian group or artist who have recently been reviewed by our editorial team. If you'd like to suggest a video for consideration, you can send us a message using this form.
Last week, NCM's Noah Siegel praised "Nowhere We Cannot Go”, the new single from indie-folk favourite Hayden, as "a triumphant and emotional folk rock rouser, a testament to the resilience of love, and just a few BPM above his habitual low-tempo comfort zone".
Coinciding with the beginning of his major cross-Canada tour with Dan Mangan & Blacksmith, Hayden has just released a video to complement the track. As a label press release notes, it is "a sun-soaked, gorgeous new video ... See what Hayden means when he sings 'Let’s spill our drinks onto this map, where the ice melts we will unpack. The certainty of pain and reward both figure prominently on this horizon".
The clip will have to take your mind off the bone-chilling deep freeze that has enveloped much of The Great White North of late. It juxtaposes shots of good-looking couples frolicking on a tropical beach with a headphones-wearing Hayden bathing, strolling on the beach, and relaxing on his bed. The beach scenes look like ads for sunscreen or Club Med (fitting, given that tour-mate Mangan's new album is entitled Club Meds), but just when everything seems a little too sweet and idyllic, the clip ends with an ominous shot of a large shark circling!\
Hayden's keenly-anticipated new album, Hey Love, is released on Arts & Crafts on March 24.

Dan Mangan has also just put out a fine new performance video, for the song "Pretty Good Joke".
