Video of the moment

Every week we select a music video by a Canadian group or artist who have recently been reviewed by our editorial team. If you'd like to suggest a video for consideration, you can send us a message using this form.

Toronto modern rockers The Darcys delivered a career breakthrough album with Warring last year, and they're still surfing acrest its momentum, as shown by its recent JUNO nomination for Alternative Album of the Year. Their epic atmospheric and emotional sound is well-suited to translation into video, and they've capitalized on that by delivering stunning videos for such tracks as "Itchy Blood", "The River", "Muzzle Blast", and "Horses Fell". This past week they just put out another superb clip, for "The Pacific Theatre". The minimalist black and white cinematography of Adrian Vieni (who also directs) complements the emotional punch of a piano and voice ballad Coldplay would be proud to claim. It frames white-attired singer Jason Couse at a grand piano. Grand stuff indeed.
